I just want to melt it so I can dip bullets in it. I tried pan lubing but the lube didn't stick to the bullet very well.

Agree with the double boiler method. Stand the bullets up in a tray pour the melted lube into the tray until it covers the grooves. I then let it harden overnight and putting them in the fridge helps. Then thumb out the bullets. Did it all the time in BPCR

I did the double boiler method and the next day when I went to thumb the bullets out of the lube the lube kind of crumbled, broke apart and didn't stick to the bullets very well. What could have I done wrong ?
When I melted the SPG lube in the double boiler and dipped the bullets one at a time the lube stuck to the bullets real good.
This is why I asked if anyone melts the SPG lube in a microwave and dips them.

I pan-lubed some Minnie bullets the other day with SPG. Put an empty well cleaned tuna (actually chunk chicken) can on electric stove eye and melted the lube (guessed at amount of lube). Stood bullets in can and set aside to cool. After a few hours I plucked the bullets out with needle nose pliers. Some grooves did not take/retain lube well and were retreated. The next go-arounds I stuck bullets down in the previous holes and added slivers of lube as required to cover the grooves.

Sorry fellas but I absolutely hate the expensive stuff. I would foul the last 10 inches of my bores so a wet patch would not go in. Your best bet is a BPCR lube using beeswax, peanut oil and lanolin.
