I was sitting out today preparing my traps for the upcoming season. As I was dyeing my traps I wondered if anyone ever dyed finished a muzzleloader? Is it even feasible? If you did or if someone did do you wax coat also? It maybe a stupid idea/question but it is something to ponder. Let me know your thoughts.

Lots of guys “dyed” finished on a muzzleloader in the civil war…. Seriously, I would get a old CVA pistol and try it! Might work well!

Uhm (?), just off the cuff,, maybe not so much. Not saying that it wasn't done,,
It's just that a gun was/is a gun.
It didn't need to be hidden or masked as a trap or snare was/is to catch critters.
A gun is different then traps

"Dyed" traps are literally the same as rust blued barrels. Both are first rusted, and then boiled to cease the rusting. Traps get a coat of wax to further protect from future rust since they are buried or submerged.
