I use a 50/50 mix of bees wax and tallow and it works good for my Pedersoli 1861 Springfield shooting 500 gr. Minieballs. Summer time I change to around 60 beeswax and 40 tallow so it doesn't get to goopy.

I shoot minies in competition with Civil War muskets. My go-to lube is beeswax/lard/coconut oil/lanolin. Dip lube the rings. Do NOT fill the base unless you want to get frustrated with flyers.

If you go with lard and beeswax to start with you can always add something else to it if it doesn't seem to make the piece happy.

I use coconut oil and beeswax, I used to use lard as well, but almost all lard has salt in it, wanted to avoid it so I switched to coconut oil. Probably unnecessary.

I use crisco, cheap n works keeps fouling soft, parker hale muskatoon with lyman 575213, bring a rag if you use it for your hands
