I find a 50/50 mixture of beeswax and lard works well for me.

Going to start shotting mini balls for the first time looking for a good lube to put on them
I use a 50/50 mix of bees wax and tallow and it works good for my Pedersoli 1861 Springfield shooting 500 gr. Minieballs. Summer time I change to around 60 beeswax and 40 tallow so it doesn't get to goopy.

I shoot minies in competition with Civil War muskets. My go-to lube is beeswax/lard/coconut oil/lanolin. Dip lube the rings. Do NOT fill the base unless you want to get frustrated with flyers.

I use coconut oil and beeswax, I used to use lard as well, but almost all lard has salt in it, wanted to avoid it so I switched to coconut oil. Probably unnecessary.
