I could be wrong but it seems that I remember seeing a formula for a bullet lube using beeswax, olive oil, and maybe 1 other item on this board about a year or so back. I have used the search function but can only find patch lube with about 5 ingreedients. I am looking for something fairly stiff for the groves in a mini ball. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I use 50%beeswax anf 50% lard seems to work for me, its a fairly stiff mix but seems to work good, I also used it for a patch lube and was ok for that as well.
Variations of it include substituting beeswax for paraffin and another of even quantity of beeswax, lard and olive oil.
Personally I apply the KISS method, (keep it simple stupid) Beeswax and Lard even a dummy like me can make it!

I think your describing a variation of Moose Snot. The other ingrediants have included Murphy's soap, and cutting oil. Some also use water to the mix and/or alcohol.

I use the bees wax when I want to make it into a thick lube like bore butter. I heat all the above up and add bees wax to thicken.

A simple 50/50 mix of beeswax and olive oil works very well, and is stiff enough to stay in the grooves except on the hottest days... if you know it's going to be hot ahead of time you can add a bit more beeswax to stiffen it. I've done this a couple of times for matches in the summer, and it didn't affect accuracy. I switched to equal thirds (by volume) of beeswax, olive oil and tallow about a year ago - still fairly stiff, still accurate, and it seems to clean out much faster, something I appreciate on the line between relays! Lots of good formulas out there, but I have had success with these two, and they are easy to find the ingredients for.
