Reduced This beautiful 1861 Springfield started life as a Pedersoli model. It was beautifully defarbed by John G. Zimmerman at his shop in Harper's Ferry. Has a few scratches on stock, but appears unfired. The bright finished 40" barrel has a bright shiny bore. All Italian proofs have been removed and correct proofs added to breech. A SN and C.S.W. on underside of barrel. Zimmerman added a cartouche with his initials. LOP is 13.5". Rifle weighs about 9.9 lbs. Highly sought after work. Price a stock Pedersoli before poo pooing my price 😉. $1200 + Shipping.

Sure is purdy..... Looking at the rifling, looks really shallow. Is that common on the 1861's? I have a 70's sears zouave that am restoring and was able to get a barrel that allegedly fits the Springfield 1861's, but the rifling was much more pronounced

Shallow, wide rifling was the norm. I think the modern Zouaves were rifled more like a roundball gun.
