Anyone know the thread pitch of the Miroku Bess side nail (screw)?

I just acquired an old kit that was missing one of the screws, though it did come with two new blanks that need threading.

Thanks,

Front bolt: M5 x 0.8 mm. unthreaded diameter 0.193", length 48 mm, thread length 12 mm.

Rear bolt: M6 X 1.0 (same as tang bolt), unthreaded shank Dia. 0.236", length 48 mm, thread length 13 mm.

Lengths measured from underside of bolt head

Just in case you are not able to find the exact screw that Hawk Eye noted, here is what I did....A year or two ago I traded for a 1766 Navy Arms Charleville that was made back in the 70-80's so I think it's a Miroku too. It needed a new barrel tang screw so, with no idea of the specifics, I simply ordered one of each tang screw (with the correct type of head) that both Track of the Wolf and Dixie had in stock. I think it cost me all of about $10 and suprise-suprise one of them fit perfectly.

Hopefully you will find that specific screw but if not, you can give my method a try.

Happy shooting! I have a Miroku Brown Bess I bought in 1976 and absolutely love it......Mick C :hatsoff:

I "lost" the tang screw and barrel pins to my Pedrosoli Bess once (please don't ask) and I was able to make a tang screw using a bolt form a Japanese car starter solenoid. It had the correct threads and I only had to shorten it a little, chuck it in a drill press to file the hex head to the correct configuration and cut a slot.

Go to your local hardwear store. They usually have
thread guages for you to fit your part to, Male or
female....I find that very helpful with metric...

Sorry for the delayed Thank You,

I was in Appomattox this weekend for the anniversary of Lee's surrender doing LH for the Park Service.

I appreciate the information. Strange the front and rear would be a different thread pitch.

It isn't just the thread sizes are different, but the diameter of the screws are different. The forward screw being smaller to get between the barrel and rammer channel more easily.
