i posted some pictures of the moose that was hit by a car....the post is now gone....just wondering the reason it's gone....if deleted by a moderater the title is usely still there and the post it says post deleted....or was there a glitch or something.............bob

My apologies. I meant to PM you with an explanation, but since you asked here, I'll answer here.

I didn't see the value of photos of a dead moose sticking out of a vehicle. I didn't think it was information that was useful to our members. Auto accidents are not "muzzleloading" related and I'd really like to keep the content more focused.

The General Interest category definition is "If it doesn't fit anywhere else, post it here." That was originally supposed to mean, if it's "muzzleloading related" and doesn't fit the other categories, put it in general interest. I admit that I've been lax when it comes to enforcing this, but some things catch my eye.

I do apologize for deleting the thread without contacting you first.

Claude,
did you receive a complaint about bob's photo's. i also like bob understand what you are saying but i don't
see much difference than his photos and someone posing with a shot deer. bob's post did bring some awareness to the
dangers of driving in wild game areas. it was under
"general interest" and i personally thought it served a purpose. just my thoughts. i really don't mean to ? the

Look on the bright side Bob, you get to keep the number of post/replies to your total post count... :haha: :winking:

Bob: You should be getting used to having your posts deleted. :: :: ::

(For those who don't know, several months ago, I accidentally deleted Bob1961s nice post about making his restocked TC.
Although he didn't say that it would eat me, that was the first time he posted his picture of his snarling dog. I think he was trying to tell me something.) :shocking: :shocking: :shocking:

OK, I am confused. The post about the moose that went through the windshield was deleted as it was not deemed to be useful to members of the forum. I personally disagree with that as a lot of the members appear to be avid hunters, and that was a very vivid illustration of why it is imperative that due caution be exercised while travelling the lower traffic roads into where the game resides. Talking about an accident and seeing the results are day and night.

I did not post that opinion when the post was deleted because I am rather new to this forum and if that is what is deemed to be the appropriate answer, then so be it. The reason that I am posting NOW is that there are two threads about the superbowl. Now, I live in Jacksonville but could not care less about the superbowl. I may be prejudiced here, but I don't see what use those threads are to the members of the forum with regards to muzzleloading. Personally, if they cancelled the game right now, I would not lose a minute's sleep nor would I have any concerns about it.

Am I out to lunch on this? If so, let me know so that I can get my thought process straight...

Thanks!

What's a "superbowl",.... is thet like a "big kettle", or sumpthin???? :: :hmm:  :p ::

There are also some missing posts from two days ago re the woodswalk biathlon for this weekend in Jeffersonville VT. Specifically a question about scoring, my answer, and a few more and a few more posts.

I also sent a PM to twisted-66 and it seems this never got sent although message indicated it was. Since this was the first PM I've sent via the Forum, I may have (probably) screwed up.

Valid point. I just tried but don't have the authorization to zap those threads.

I could care less what some doped up bunch of millionares do with a ball, regardless of the ball's shape. Just not from a spectator sport family, I guess.

Thanks all! I was not trying to start any kind of mudslinging contest and am glad that it did not become that. I just wanted to get an understanding of the rules of the game here.

BTW, the superman answer to the superbowl question was super! :redthumb:

A photo of an animal struck by a vehicle is simply an accident photo. It is a graphic illustration of what can happen on the highway, to anyone, not just hunters. The fact that it has a moose in the photo is irrelevant.

The reason that I am posting NOW is that there are two threads about the superbowl. Now, I live in Jacksonville but could not care less about the superbowl. I may be prejudiced here, but I don't see what use those threads are to the members of the forum with regards to muzzleloading.

In the strictest sense, you are correct. The difference as I see it is the fact that the Super Bowl is a current event that many of our members have an interest in. You'll find many threads in the General category that are not specifically related to muzzleloading. The General category has become, over time, a place for people to share non-muzzleloading items, but what you share is subject to review.

To answer your question more directly, I decide what is in good taste and what is allowed on the Forum. I think I'm fair and try to maintain somewhat of a family atmosphere. I have to evaluate each post on it's own merits and make a judgment call. Since there really is no "right" or "wrong", I try to decide what's best for the overall reputation of the site.

You can post a photo of a deer that you shot, but not a photo of a deer that was struck by a car, or a photo of a hunter with his arm blown off. Why? Accident photos have no place here. There are sites that offer that. We don't.

here a point to ponder or even try and see for yourself :hmm:....these guys that are getting so much money to play this and one thing i cant under stand is why are they so tired after the game ::....if you take a stop watch and start it at the snap and stop it at the whistle the avg game only is played for 12 1/2 min :shocking:....so is the reason they are so tired and panting out of breath after only 12 1/2 mins of game time is there that out of shape ....so tell me your thoughts on this outrageous fact of the game and if the game is only 12 min long and there all not playing for that whole time cause of offence and defence think of how much there getting paid for each min of play they might be playing and how many games they might be playing :curse:....and they have the gall to cry bout not being paid enough :m2c:.......bob

If them guys wear'n buckets on ther heads, git paid real money fer play'n with a ball,.... then, I think us muzzleloader folks ought git paid too!! :curse:  :applause:   :shocking: :: :RO: :imo: :m2c: :redthumb:

Claude - What about the post referenced above about the biathlon?

I haven't seen it. When referencing a post, please include the URL.

FWIW, I'm not about to explain or justify every post on the Forum, so please don't start listing them. :winking:

It's hard enough keeping people on topic, much less trying to read every post to be sure it fits some strict guideline. We make rules, but then the human element kicks in and sometimes we just have to flow with it. We're all doing the best we can when it comes to staying on topic, posting in the correct category and keeping the posts relevant. We don't want people to afraid to post, so there will always be a gray area in the "rules". :peace:

BTW, I hate enforcing any rules here. The only reason we have them is to try and stay focused, thus making it easier for Members to find the information they need.

Claude has a full-time job just keeping me from ramblin. Once the caffeine kicks in I have a six-second attention span.

At least the WV Mountaineers have a guy with a muzzleloader fire off a shot when they score . . . or at least they used to before we got edgy about such things.
