Make sure you park it somewhere safe. Thieves here in Utah are even drilling holes in the bottoms of gas tanks to steal fuel. The dirty beggars I have a choice now they steal catalytic converter‘s or ruin your gas tank to get a couple gallons of gas.
Actually seen both stolen lately right in front of house we just sold for near a mil. Things are so bad that cars that are left unattended (for even overnight) get attacked. Even "homeless" sleeping in their vehicles are not immune.

Now have a very safe spot backed up with floodlight/night vison net video security cams (and unmentionable stuff loaded with golden talons). When shipping exceeds value it makes it really tough to buy. The distinct possibility that it may never arrive is an additional disincentive to buy or ship anything.

but Bidenflation and oil prices affect the price of everything especially shipping.
How much does it cost to ship a padded envelope containing a muzzleloader lock? IMO: Muzzleloader people are willingly paying outrageous prices for muzzleloader parts, caps and powder. So long as people are willing to pay outrageous prices the scalpers will demand outrageous prices. Stop buying their high priced stuff and prices and prices will go down.

It's your money do whatever you want to. But don't blame outside forces for your willingness to pay scalper prices.

Last one was about $5 for parcel post or $10 for Flat Rate Priority. The added insurance though makes UPS somewhat attractive. That given locks approaching 3 bills.

Sorry I have to disagree with you here. There may be other factors as you suggest but Bidenflation and oil prices affect the price of everything especially shipping.

I agree with both of you. It's not just one thing, it's a combination of many things. And having O'Bozo driving the bus, it's gonna get way worse before it ever shows any sign of gettin' better.

Parts prices kinda remind me of an old "Frank & Ernest" cartoon. 'Ain't it amazing how they can take 47,000 dollars worth of parts and make a 20,000 dollar car'.

I am so glad that a few years back when I was getting ready to retire, I ordered enough components to build two flint rifles to have for projects later. The same parts are double or more cost now than just three or four years ago. I can understand some increase but locks that were around $100 are now $250.

Due to back surgeries, catarack removal and hip replacement, I haven;t got my last two rifles built. The rise in prices will allow me to resell the parts and make as much profit as I would have made building the rifles.
