Just got a Smoke & Fire moccasin kit.
The leather has a rough side and a smooth side.
On the finished moccasin do I want smooth side in or out?

Thanks
Bill

Thanks I haven't started the kit yet. Gives me something to think about.

Well I'll add some more here.

I spend 40-60 hrs a week on concrete, in required steel toe boots. Most of the areas I traverse when not at work is the wood floor, paved or concrete parking lot's and sidewalks. Something our ancestors didn't have to deal with at all.

Not only do I wear socks, my Moc's have linners with elevated heel and insole supports.

If I had nothing between my foot and the ground but a leather/hide moccasin, I could step on a Dime and tell ya what year it was stamped.
("Ouch! 1987!")

If man was ment too walk on cement, our feet would be 16"s long, 6"s wide and 4"s thick! :haha:

wp mocs ain't nothing but a fancy way a walking barefoot. All mine are smooth out but I've been wearing them for near 30 years(more then one pair of courseLOL)

I like smoothout and it is easier to clean, there is really no right or wrong unless trying to make faux BT then the rough out would probably look a bit more like BT,but one can scuff up the smooth side to get a BT look as well but all leather used in the past was not BT, it is probably over represented in many personas today.
