I have made several sets of Center Seam and Pucker toe mocs. I will usually wear a sock when I setup the paper pattern for a new set. I line at least 1 set with some red or blue felt (or deer skin) to make it warmer for fall wear.
You can also get a good sole by sandwiching a modern "oder eater" between some deer leather. but make sure you stand on it when setting up the pattern.
You can rub some beeswax on the sinew and back into the sewn seams to keep them water tight (not water proof).
