I have a Piata Paterson with a cut barrel and would like to modify it to the later configuration with the loading lever attached to the barrel. from what I have found out many of these models were modifications to the standard model with the addition of the loading lever assembly, the rear of the cylinder rounded off, a capping cutting milled into the right side of the frame and a wedge with the spring added. I only read this on the internet but no idea if this is correct or if the model with the lever was a seperate gun althougher. If anyone knows the true story please post that information. Being that the barrel on mine is already cut, I'd like to know if anyone here has ever done the modifications to the Piata Paterson? Also, if anyone knows of a gunsmith capable of doing the mods. The only real problem I can imagine is if the section under the rear of the barrel is not right for mounting the lever. Please anyone chime in with your thoughts.
Thanks,

I, too, came here to highly recommend Gary Barnes. Fortunately for me, he is but a short drive away, so I have a few of my own revolvers there at his shop for projects

Yes, I know Gary and I have one of his conversions and he has another 1851 that is waiting for blueing salts to come in to finish it. His work is excellent. He knows an imense amount of gunsmithing tricks and solutions to fix almost anything gun related. In several conversations that I recall, he doesn't like the paterson at all. I really should e-mail him and get his thoughts on this as he may not want to do it but would have good imput on it.
Thanks,
