I just got a cannon ball sinker mold for a mortar I'm building, cavities were a bit out of round, too over sized.
What to do ? Under size no problem but to make a mold smaller ? Don't care about pretty balls, just right size.
So took a ball and turned it down to spec in the lathe, then used layers of aluminum foil in each half and compressed the
ball in till mold closed tight, test cast, not real pretty but sized right. Used liquid super glue on each layer, squeezed the ball in each time. Used in-letting release on ball and mold to prevent sticking, worked great.
