About 15 years back i bought a lot from the estate of a gunsmith. There was a lot of parts and pieces for conversion muskets/rifles. In this lot there was two musket nipples that were finished and hardened but had no touch hole drilled. I use them when teaching in the schools,(this way I can show the teacher there is no way for this musket to fire!), but i wonder if this was their real purpose????

Finally found them and got a couple pics, here is the cone w/out a flash hole.

It seems this guy hade two of everything! Here are a couple of bolsters, not modern but not original. They do not fit a M1842 so I would bet they are for a M1841 "Miss".

Lastly here are some hammers and a breech plug. There were two Plugs dated 1830 and two dated 1829 in this lot as well as two of these M1855 Hammers that looked unused. The hammer head edge that cuts the paper tape is very sharp.
