Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
Here's my engraving bench, set up in a temporary way. We'll see how it works, then I'll make something more permanent.
Did this yesterday, the curves aren't smooth enough, and it still looks amateurish. But I like the leaves, may incorporate this into gun decoration. Maybe I'll get a critique from Jerry. I'm having fun anyway.
I like, especially, the way the leaves in the upper right flow over one another, thus giving the visual effect of depth (as opposed to my work, which the visual effect of yuck).
Let us know all the cool stuff you pick up at the class.
Yeah, I made it, but since I had my hip replacement, I can't sit in it over 20 minutes. It's a kit from Pygmyboats.com, thin plywood strips about 4" wide glued together and covered with fiberglas and epoxy. Weighs 35 lbs.
Here's what she (the boat) looks like, paddles great, tracks straight. This is the Osprey model.
Mike, take a look at Joe Seeley's website: http://www.gunmaker.biz/ He's got lots of examples of engraving on single shot guns, many that he's made himself. Most of the small photos enlarge pretty large - on the photos without the magnifying icon, drag the photo to the address bar on your screen & it will enlarge. Should give you lots of examples to practice on.
You're engraving is looking great. Thanks for posting it. Mike
Amateuris? looks good to me. I have a new .54 hawken that I am restoring...I could send you some parts and you could practice on them...? Kind of a win-win. You get to do something you enjoy on real gun parts, and I get some cool engraving.
