I've read Kenneth Roberts, Alan Eckert, Alexander Thom, Terry Johnston and a few others. Anyone have any other good authors? Historical fiction, close to historical fiction? I'm interested mostly in 1790-1840. Eckert gets a little boggy as does Thom at times.
Any opinions?
(That was a dumb question on this forum.) :haha:

Give Your Heart to the Hawks by Winfred Williams. A chronicle of the mountain men. And Buckskinner by R.C. House
I have a copy of the later one if you want me to send it to you.

I am currently reading the third James Fennimore Cooper book. Have read "Deerslayer", "Last of the Mohicans" and now reading "The Pathfinder". Have two in the series left to read, they are on the shelf waiting. Also have read "Crucible of War" by Fred Anderson,(very informative but kinda like reading a history book ie. dry reading); "Wilderness War on the Ohio" by Alan Fitzpatrick, good read (basicaly the same story as Eckert's "Dark and Bloody Ground", but from the British perspective). My Christmas list will have to include "White Devil" as I have been reading a lot of good comments about that one.
