Years ago I tried 3 or 4 of the commercial patch lubes. Most had the consistency of Crisco and all of them would allow me to shoot 3 or 4 shots before the patched ball would be hard to run down the barrel.
A friend gave me his concoction of Simple-Green, water-soluable oil and water. Now I can shoot 25 shots without having to clean between shots. And clean up at the end of the day is easy.
I haven't put the rifle on a bench to check for a difference in accuracy but it seems OK. At a recent rendezvous there were plenty of shooters using Simple-Green only. Anybody have experience with this?
