I would have to put in my vote for the Knock volley gun myself. While it may not be the most powerful it would certqainly be more effective than most in a crouded situation.
An old gunmaker named Kit Ravenshere that I used to know years ago made one on contract for a local museum and we took it to the range to try it out.
With seven barrels of 50 cal. form a common breach,six smoothbores around a rifled centerbarrel, It would cut a rather large hole in a group of enemy soldiers in close quarters. Such as repelling boarders from ship to ship.
