Very good museum, and a must stop if you are anywhere near NW Wyoming, SW Montana, SE Idaho. The museum also publishes, once a year, the Rocky Mountain Fur Trade Journal--if you are at all interested in the fur trade of the far west, this is for you. The MM Museum isn't as extensive as the Musuem of the Fur Trade, but they both have their strengths, and are well worth a visit--or two, or three.....I've been to both several times, and don't go to western MT or SD without making a side trip and running down to Pinedale, or Chadron.

I should have mentioned that the MOFT also publishes a Quarterly magazine. With the MMM Fur Trade Journal, and the MOFT Quarterly, there's more fur trade knowledge at your fingertips that nearly any other source---both are well worth getting.

this is a good museum, however it is just another tourist trap, like many of the so called rendezvous. If you really want to experiance a rendezvous you need to go to the little shoots put on by local clubs, then you can shoot, trade and sit back and plaver about the things that interest you , not just take a strole and look at things. get out there and live it.

In the picture of the two mountain men...The taller one is Grizz [the founder] and the second
man is Rattle Snake...of the Amm....
