I know that there is a lot of information on wilderness skills and the like on VHS and DVD such as Hood's Woods, Buckshot's, etc. I was wondering if anyone has produced a video or DVD on what one could call mountain man survival skills. Someone in period dress and accoutriments living out in the wild as if it were 1825?

I did some searches but came up with nothing. Anyone have any info on this subject? Thanks.

The only video I know of is;

Link

It is more on Dress and Equipage but does cover some skills. I like the video and would recommend it to a beginner or someone that just likes to collect "stuff" that's related. I like to have it on while working on projects.

Another good set of videos are the Mark Baker videos. They aren't Mountain Man specific because he does the eastern thing but a lot of the skills are the same.

there is a show on weekly called survivorman and it shows how he would do it in a week at a time by him self and the he films it himself too....good show to watch if ya can git it....don't know what channel it's....i think it's on discovery...........bob

Muzzleloader magazine has the longhunter series by Mark Baker. It's an earlier period than mountain man but I would imagine that a lot of the skills would carry over.

The Baker DVD's seem to be the thing I am looking for. I'd like to add something to my classroom that shows real life experiences on the frontier. This can be very hard to do at times.
