Could get my hands on some proper skin so I made for myself pants and suspenders

suspenders - cotton belt, leather, copper rivets
pants - leather, linen twine, artificial sinew, with buttons antler and mother of pearl

Very good. Watch the knots on the artificial sinew. If there is tension on them they can come apart. A little heat to melt the ends can stop that.
