Your right- the things sold for big money, I had some inside help to get the hunting Shirt that I got. I got a Movie Studio ticket with it. A bunch of things were as in the real days- just worn out from use. I hope someone will make another great epic frontier Movie, so many topics that they could be about- everybody have fun, as the words in a new Kenny Chesney song says "100 Years gos by in a flash" The Geat Pinyone

I have heard a few rumors about a possible epic Lewis and clark movie. But I have heard them for about ten years now. I knew a couple of grips and bit actors that worked on films around DC.

When they made that spin off from Spenser for Hire, Hawk, they filmed in my neighborhood about one morning a week. Sure screwed up morning rush hour.

some woman kayaker went off hooker falls the other day and hurt her back same one day lewis went over in the movie!! your fren truckwilkins

Wow, that's cool how you got to be a part of that! :hatsoff: It's my all-time favorite movie. :)

I sure agree with ya there, They just don't seem to put out too many good movies anymore to much modern junk!!!

Howdy Plgrims! If you'll kindly indulge me. I have acted in tv movies and commercials. I can tell you personally that sometimes you work all day on a scene only to have it end up on the cutting floor. That's okay! I cried all the way to the bank!
My personnae is based on "Bearclaw" in the movie: I sorta look like him and can do a pretty fair imitation of him with voice, mannerisms and speech inflections. My comrades all laugh at my antics. (No brag-just fact). I can say that, because I have gone sometimes as long as a year without any cast calls.
I would have given anything to have played that role in the original movie! In my humble estimation he was played brilliantly!! His lines like: "He says you fish poorly!", and "Didn't put down 'nuff dirt, seen it right off!" are classics!!
One thing I want to know if any one else noticed. In the 1st version I saw, Wes,(Mogwaw), when he cut out the general's heart, held it up and then took a bite out of it! But in the version I have he just holds it up, and subsequent tv showings are the same. Did anyone else notice this? That was a possiblility according to my readings. Was it edited out for being too gory perhaps? Bearclaw

Okay! Before anyone jumps on my mistake, I was talking about Bearclaw in Jeremiah Johnson and my question was concerning The last of the Mohicans.
My bad! What do you expect I just turnrd 69 on Sunday and obviously I am suffering from serious "Dain Bramage!!'. "You mean a full time night woman?".... "What Fer?"

"Was it edited out for being too gory perhaps? Bearclaw "

I would suspect that was the case, I am pretty sure my copy shows him taking a bite, I guess I will have to watch it again to see for sure,

The rifle was made by a gentleman who wanted to make a proper style gun but was told "no"! copies of this gun were avalable at one time, I do not know if that are, the gun is closer to 1800 than the F&I period, there may be something in the archives about it the topic has come up several times

Thanks for the link! That was a heckuva nice rifle!! :hatsoff: :hatsoff: Does anyone know anything about Uncas's rifle?

I'm currently watching the 1970's multi episode version that appeared on Masterpiece Theatre. Although it lacks the special effects and lavish budget of the recent Hollywood production, it's truer to the book and I am enjoying it an episode each evening. That's the way it was meant to be viewed with the ending of each episode leaving you in anticipation of the next. All British cast, none of whom I am familiar with, but, a great version of the classic and well worth adding to one's library.

I agree completely! I LOVE the Masterpiece Theatre version as well as the 1990's version. The Masterpiece version is way more true to the novel but obviously not ANYWHERE near the budget.

If you've not seen the Materpiece one, it's well worth it, in my opinion.

Great thread about a great movie. Now the Masterpiece Theater version is not one I'm familiar with. Availablity? Thanks. G

Seems like the studios changed several things around. Even the VHS and DVD versions have a couple different scenes. Know for sure the older VHS version didn't show the blunderbuss, though it wasn't fired when visible in the DVD version. Same kind of thing happens in many movies, not sure why...sort of the old, "There is no reason for it, it's just company policy!"
