Mowrey Rifle Nipple Thread

Does anyone know what the nipple threads should be for a early brass framed Mowrey rifle, serial number 52xx and stamped Olney Texas, should be? Most catalog references say 1/4x 28, but the one that came with it looks more like 1/4 x 32.

Use a good thread guage or take the nipple to a hardware or auto parts store and have them measure the size and pitch of the threads.

The later ones I know are 1/4x28, I've measured the one that came in the rifle and I think it's 1/4x32, but wonder if the original was replaced by an incorrect one.
