Well guys the Lancaster County Rifles sponsered event at Muddy Run Park(SE Pa) is right around the corner. If ya go to Lancastercountyrifles.com ya can check out their web site. Now it ain't real fancy but it gives ya all the basic info you'll need to attend whether yer camping or just in for the day. There will be anywhere from 900 to over 1100 people attending so it's a big camp. The grounds are beautiful(and big) with both open areas(grassy)and wooded areas to set up in. There is plenty to do while there  and a ton of work has gone into the site to get it ready, if ya like blackpowder and rondezvous you will like this event. So check out the web page n see ya there. I'll have a small oval sign with "Bird's Cage" painted on it hanging out front of my lodge so stop by n say Hello. Man I am so ready for this one this year. Ya all take care YMHS Birdman

Thanks for the information Birdman, I've heard good things about this event ... not sure if I'll be able to make it but if I do, I'll stop in and introduce myself

I'll be arriving later Thursday and staying till Sunday. I will look for the bird's cage sign, I still need some way to mark my camp, without peeing on a corner of my tent

I'll be arriving late Thursday. I'll be the one with the white tent(g)

Well we are almost packed. It's been raining pretty good so it looks like it's gonna be a damp camp the first few days. All part of the experience I guess. So if any of ya Pa boys show up look for the "Bird's Cage" sign n stop in and say HELLO. I'll be helping out with the Expadition shoot so I may not be in my camp but stop in n say howdy to the wife. She will have a walkie talkie that she can use to get a hold of me, so I might be able to take a few minutes n stop in camp to visit. Ya all take care n see ya in a week or so. YMHS Birdman oh yea I'm about 5'6" 212lbs with long hair n glasses, mustache n dressed in longhunter garb, so if ya see a short fat tree troll looking dude it just might be me hee hee :redthumb:

oh yea the tent is a 16x16 marquee, with dark blue edgeing and we will be camped(I hope) just below the venders area on the down hill side at the corner of two roads.

She will have a walkie talkie that she can use to get a hold of me, so I might be able to take a few minutes n stop in camp to visit.

I'd like to come just to check out yer PC "walkie talkies." I ain't never seen one of them before, unless it's the kind with a long string.

On one side of my awning I lewft the pole stick out about 2 feet further than the awning, I will hang a black coyote pelt on the end of the pole. If you see this camp, stop in and say howdy.

Hey Pooh Bear since I don't read pelts to good, why don't you hang a sign out front that says "Griz hibernates here, stop in and share your honey". On second thought your honey might take that the wrong way. I will probably be the daytimer wondering around looking for you guys. I will probably be wearing a non period correct umbrella. It might even have one of the M&Ms characters on it. Free advertisement for work.

Well the Muddy Run event is over for another year n my sides are still acheing from all the laughing. Met a few new people n many old friends and as always had a GREAT TIME. I had hoped to meet a few from the board here but I guess it wasn't to be. John Mosby stopped by but I was working on the other side of the lake at the time. I looked around for some of ya other guys but didn't get lucky in the finding ya department. I now know why they call it MUDDY RUN hee hee after all the rain it was a mess getting around and trying to get packed and out of camp on Sunday was an event in itself. All in all it was a wet wonderful time n I'll be there next year as usual. Already counting the days YMHS Birdman  :front:

I wandered around a bit looking for a bird cage sign. No luck. I was camped way down on the same road as the Asylum, opposite side, towards the lake. Yep, it was a bit muddy. Not nearly as bad as that EPR in Ohio a couple years ago though. I felt bad for the traders. Witht the weather it was a bit of a washout for them I suspect. Still beats workin' though.

Next time we'll all have to agree to meet at the flag pole at noon one day up at the start of traders row near the day shooters parking area.
I had a great time, didn't camp but saw lots of interesting things, met some nice people and got to shoot too.
And found some real bargains as well.

Hey, fiddler. do you know the folks that own the asylum? I'm good friends with them and we only live 10 mile from each other.
Anyway, if any one was looking for the griz den, I am sorry for not being there. 1 hour before we were going to leave I got a phone call that my dad was in an ambulance to a city hospital 1 hour away and was having emergency bypass in 2 hours.....needless to say, I didn't go camping. I hope everyone had a good time....maybe next year.

No, I only know the Asylum folks by reputation. I used them as a reference because I can't remember the name of the road I was camped on. I hope your dad's ok. We'll have to try to hook up again at the EPR. It's funny.......the one thing I really was looking to buy was some flints and hardly anyone had any. I guess I'll have to run up to Dixon's

Well if any of ya are heading to the Dixon's gun makers faire we can meet there. I will be helping out Bob Winter"s at his table(speaking of gun flints hee hee)Stop by n say Hello!. I'll be the short ugly one dressed longhunter style. Now that other pretty blonde is Bob's wife n she is the tuff one of the group, when she barks we all jump. Bob of course will be dressed Native n probably chewing the fat with flat landers as he knaps out more gun flints. Sure hope the weather is nice, I'm sort of tired of rain already this year. See ya all there. YMHS Birdman :front:
