Very true Dave, and yet until recently the only musket caps I was able to get where the CCI reenactor caps, and I must report that I have yet to experience a failure to ignite 60-120 grain charges of FFG, FFFG or Pyrodex R.

They are certainly dirty, but alas, me pulleth the trigger and the rifles go boom every time!

I have now received the Rio musket caps, and they are awesome! Feel like magnum charges.

( Someone else told me they would be weak, and yet, thankfully I have had great results)

So while the common impression has been exactly what you state, I for one, out sheer desperation tried my luck and faired very well.

Were you shooting in competition or casual plinking? That’s where you’ll see the problem

I've used the CCI reenactor caps on Sharps rifles and muzzleloaders. I prefer the RWS, but the CCI's work fine. They were just redesigned to not shatter.
