Muzzle cut patch or pre cut?

I have always precut my patches and almost always use spit for lube, even when hunting. I draw as much saliva as possible from said patch before loading...maybe this helps. It seems to load faster, but haven't timed it. A Minie ball cartridge is much faster yet, this I know.

If you do cut at the muzzle you must also lick your thumb and wipe the front sight blade.

Or is that if you cut at the muzzle, you must also lick the blood from your thumb after the patch knife cuts your thumb while looking cool?

I hunt a lot in the cold and wet. With clumsy old fingers and often gloves. I can spew precuts all over the landscape without half trying. A long strip of patching is just easier for me to handle. Better accuracy in my guns is a bonus.
