I use a inkle woven sash. I just tie it around the wrist and around the barrel. The sash is easy to carry, you just tie it around your wais

All you need is a 1" wide strip of leather with a slit on each end. You can keep this rolled up in your pocket or hunting bag until needed. When needed, push the ends through the slits making small loops. loop one end over the barrel and one over the butt stock and cinch her up. One make shift sling.

I purchased a Lace Sling from Tandy..you can get em still from cabelas and Bass Pro.
The pros: the lace sling looks nice and Functions correctly. The older it gets the better it looks.
the cons: not sure if it's HC or PC..but I really don't care too much myself about that. The sling is too short..in order to remove it from my rifle I need to remove the barrel..I intend on getting a longer piece of 1-1/2 wide 5 ounce leather and correcting the length.
All in all I like it, it looks good and functions like it should..just my 2 cents

What do you guys use to sling yer smokepole?? I find the older I get the less I wanna carry. Thanks for any replies...............Daniel
I have a strap (about 1.5" wide) with holes in the end where thin leather thongs are attached. The front thong is tied around the barrel (at a ram-rod pipe) while the other end is tied to the front of the trigger-guard bow.
