The longer I shoot with flintlocks, the less I find I need. This is my 'shooters' bag.

Or paper cartridge type powder tubes. Tear or bite off the top and dump in the bore.

Yup.
When hunting, pre-measured charges in coin (dime or penny) wrappers, with the ends folded and stapled work well, load fast, and are virtually free. Leave the powder measure in camp.
Heck, leave the horn in camp too if you have a smaller tube of pan primer on you.
Won't look as cool, but less fumbling when the need for a quick reload arises.

I sewed a half-depth pocket into my bag, and all the powder charges sit in there by themselves, handy to grab quickly.

I find that for quick second shots hunting the best is a loading block necklass, and premeasure powder charges in the plastic( I know not PC) tubes horse wormer comes in, pluged with a tapered dowel rod.. The necklass is the proper length for when the rifle is butt on ground, and the horse wormer tubes fit the shirt pocket of the cartharts. And caps in a leather capper also on a proper length necklass. Time for second shot ten to twelve seconds! :idunno: :idunno:

Thanks to Necchi for posting the link to the TC manual. I'm not particularly a TC fan but that manual is very thorough, fun to read through, and would apply to any traditional BP rifle. I've been doing this hobby/sport a long time and I learned a couple of new things.

Also loved this quote "Those wearing long hair or beards should use extra caution when firing a flint lock. A flint lock can torch hair." :haha: has anyone here ever been "torched"?
