That's awesome! What an great grandad!
I have very little grandkid experience. I have one that's just turned 1 and another due to arrive next summer. I bought the first a .22 the day she was born. Will do the same for the next inbound. Now you've got me thinking, maybe I need to buy a couple of those Crocketts?

Great Job!! Not only have you gained another muzzleloading shooting buddy, you're also making memories that are priceless to the young lady long after you're gone. In the future I can see her sitting by a fireplace looking at that rifle and remembering that day with grandpa in the snow.

You are very fortunate. My grandsons are 1100 miles away in central MO. and they rarely travel back this way (can't blame their parents as I wouldn't come to NY except that I live here lol). My car is packed pretty tight when we travel to MO between myself, my wife, my older son and my dog that there really isn't any room to pack a rifle With gas prices as high as they are don't really want to take one of the bigger vehicle.s. Enjoy all the time that you can with her. They grow up too fast and get so busy so quickly that they soon don't have time for us.

Yesterday my 12 year old granddaughter was so excited, as she was looking forward to our monthly club shoot at the Flathead Valley Muzzleloader monthly shoot. I would get her set up showing her powder, patch and ball with 30 gr of FFg then ramrod run to compact and after it was capped I had to set the trigger for her. Because of the weight of the Lyman Great Plains Rifle .54 cal I had her use my trek pod (a photographer hiking mono pod) with a yoke on top. Even with the cold weather she hit our turkey targets 6 out of 6 times after taking careful aim. Boy howdy, I couldn't chisel that grin off of her face if I would have tried... after the 6th time shooting, she was asking for the fire pit area to warm up and thaw her feet/toes, yep it was that cold.

So we walked the 50 or so yards back to the fire pit where other in the club soon joined us around the nice warm fire. She asked when the next shoot was, and added I can see why you do this Poppi it's so fun. She's hooked now!
Great post! It's good to be able to read upbeat posts like these. Thanks

My granddaughter is 9 months... too early??
Many years ago, I had my 34 yr old son when he was 5 yrs old, loading a 50 cal CVA Mountain Rifle.... he begun with just 20 gr of FFg. His children haven't gotten into muzzle-loading yet, I keep hoping that they will catch on with their cousin now.

Bet nothing could be better than the way you felt when she did that. Adorable little sharp shooter you have there.
