Good looking equipment, Klaus! Is the pelt from a German (American immigrant!) raccoon?

Good looking kit! What caliber is your rifle?

Suggestions? well, just an idea, but were it me I'd find a nice straight grained piece of oak or other strong hardwood and craft a longer handle for that hawk. Something between 50 and 60 cm depending on your height. And then age it like your current one.

Unless of course your persona calls for a shorter utility axe like you already have. :idunno:

love that 'coon pelt!

Steve

Hi Steve,

thx for your suggestion but i have shorten it for the best handle to throw it.Originally it was 2 inch longer ..

Klaus

Klaus.. Your outfit looks very nice..Love the browned barrel....I'm a newbee ..whats the wooden mallet used for? Thanks...Dan

hello Jaeger,

yes it is
but i don`t know what kind of animal are the second pelt i showing under Percussionrifles - CVA Mountain Rifles, may you will have a look there

thx Klaus

Hi Dan,
the wodden mallet should be used to beat the RB into the muzzle.this was a usual doing to load a very tight patch/ball combination, but since i visit this forum i know it better and use a smaller Ball and it fits at all better than before :v

so the mallet is only a exihibition piece today....

Klaus

Maybe the mallet is used for killing the raccoon?????

Your powderhorn has so many colors in it!

Klaus - Really looks like a nice kit. Good Show. By the way, it's nice to see all the different members from Germany. I lived in Nurnberg for a year back in '79 - '80. I loved it, and I can't believe how much time has passed since then. I met a lot of great people, some became good friends. You've got beautiful country out there, I hope it's not getting spoiled like over here. Well, I'm starting to ramble and that just shows I've become an old man. How on earth does that happen?

Hi Marc,

thx for your comment.

yes a lot of year has been passing through and somethings has been changed ,for better times i really don`t know.i guess that you are here at your Army time in Nuernberg.
The most from the US Army are based in the south part of Germany.Heidelberg, Nuernberg,Munic, e.g.
in the north, the Airfield in Spangdahlem/ Bitburg was at least 120 km far from the place were i live.
We Members here from germany are enjoy this forum and looking a bit envious to your side.
Would not to say that it`s much better in the states like in germany but for our favorite hobby it is indeed.. :2

Klaus

Klaus - Nope, I wasn't in the army. I was a musician (keyboards), fell deeply in love with a local girl. Originally lived on Bergstrasse, in the walls right around the corner from Albrecht Durer's house. Later on we lived a couple miles away on Friedenstrasse, a short walk to Stadtpark. On certain days with the windows open the smell of hops came wafting in from a Tucher beer factory. Those were beautiful times, my friend, lost in the smoke rings of youth.
