Well I finally was able to find a willing deer today and was able to harvest my first deer with a flintlock ( A spike buck) .
It was a 40 yard standing shot quartering to me, The .50 cal round ball hit high lung and also took the spine out so it dropped in it's tracks. The ball exited so there was no bullet recovery.

That was fun and I can't wiat for the next time I can harvest an animal with this Pedersoli Blue Ridge flinter.

I can't post a pic because a friend took the pictures with a film camera and it might be a while before I see them.

Congrats on the Spike!!When I shoot a Buck ,any Buck with Black Powder it's a Trophy! :v

:hatsoff:

I know how ya feel this year was my first flinter deer also. Way to go bro, grats.

Yeah I know what you mean, As I can't wait for this next fall for bear hunting.

I have got it in my head to harvest a bear with this flinter, but I will need to do some shooting at close ranges so that I know where it shoots anywhere from 5 to 25 yards ( Its really thick timber where I bear hunt ) and from elevation.
