Degrease then perma blue cream followed by blue and rust remover, navy jelly and 4-0 steel wool

That's a 5-step process and I believe I achieve the same color and maybe a more antiqued patina or more rustic looking 'tone' of the color by using 3-steps ... degrease - cold blue - rub back with ScotchBrite.

Just as an option ... for you did well, I do not mean to detract from that! :ghostly:
 
That looks great . . . I would have thought the navel jelly would have removed all the bluing. . . I've only blued and then cut it back with scotch bright pads, as mentioned here.

Navy jelly will lighten brown or blue, but won’t remove it well. I thought it would leave it clean, no such luck.
I’ve tried it on plumb brown and cold brown. It’s a killer to get down to bare.
