New barrel and stock arrived from Ned Ludd in Michigan from whom I buy all my wood. He also inlets the barrel for me.

What type of rifle is it gonna be? Post some pics of the build! Id love to see!

design is a Full Stock Hawken, 50 caliber flint. Barrel by Rice. At the moment I am still dressing up all the furniture. Taking everything to Kentucky for my annual trip. Thanks

I will ask him. He usually has a pretty good supply of maple and some walnut. In the last 20 some years I don't recall of buying a piece of wood from anyone else

Contacted Ned. He is tooling up for his annual week at Friendship NMLRA demo. He has a bench on the back porch of the cabin and builds a piece and does some carving while the civilians and sight-seers pass buy. Also sells stock wood and takes orders. So he is going to be really busy for the next couple of months and can't do any outside work. Remind me in the July/August and I will find out how he feels about taking on other business.

🤣 Ned likes to do things the old way. He believes he is a descendent of the original Ned Ludd who railed against automatic card weaving machines in the old England. Although I know that the modern Ned has never led a riot he is still fun to hand around with. 🤢
