Hey all! This is my most recent knife. The blade is from an old saw blade and the scales are Hawiian Koa wood...(close enough to maple right:)?). I acid etched the blade to age it. This was for a friend for his birthday who is also a member of this forum. What do you all think? Thanks!

used Koa to turn some shaving brush handles for a friend (who lives in Hawaii) ... it's nice wood!

your knife looks really good - I like the acid etching bit ...

(by the way, my birthday is the end of January) :rotf:

nice work!

Nothing wrong with that, to my eye the grips could be a little thinner but over all nice job.

"I don't care who you are", that's a nice knife. I noticed that one comment was to the effect that the scales were too thick. If his hands are anything like mine, the scales that you have on that knife would fit my hand perfectly Hint, hint! :haha: :haha:

Koa is great wood! It's nice to work and looks very pretty. Thank you very much! I wanted to make it look like an old patch knife, so that's why I etched it, glad you like it! Hahaha:). Thanks again

Thanks! The knife's new owner has big hands, I wanted it to have a good fit. But in future knives I'll definately consider thinner scales, thanks!

Thank you! He has big hands, so it fits! Hahaha:). I'm considering starting to sell them.... :rotf:

I'm a newbie knife maker so take this with a grain of salt, but I also think thinner scales would enhance the look. Not even thinner overall, just tapered towards the blade, or sanded down at an angle towards the very end of the scale so the edge kind of flows into the blade. But otherwise nice looking knife!

Ok, thanks! I appreciate your Imput! I've had a few people say that, so I'll try it, thank you!

I meant nothing negative about the knife, just voiced an opinion.
Nice little knife and I'm glad your friend is happy with it.

No offense taken! I appreciate your opinion ! Thank you very much! Criticism and tips are much appreciated!
