Winter time is for projects. I made a couple of bags that are much more PC and the styles were based on late 18th century or early 19th century examples I found in books. The bag on the left is my new haversack. The body is made from coarse linen, and it's lined with cotton canvas for strength, has a hemp strap and leather flap. The button is also covered in the same linen to be correct. The bag on the right is the new shooting pouch I was working on in the Bag helper thread. The bag has a hair-on flap over a cow hide body. There are two pockets sewn to the back of the bag inside, and it too has a hemp strap that is adjustable with the brass buckle. Both bags were completely hand sewn with linen thread and I used only materials in their construction that would have been used in the 18th century. All hemp and linen were dyed with walnut hulls to give them a woodsy color. I'm pretty proud of my handiwork if I say so myself.
