My new to me T/C .36 Cal.

I guess this is a pre Seneca?
Since it does not say Seneca on it.
Have not shot it yet, but soon.
I love the feel of the little rifle, balances percent.
Bore is great for the first 3/4.
Then found some rust with a bore scope. Gave it a good scub with butches bore shine and a brass brush, then Kroil. Still see some rust but hopefully it will shoot well.
What twist would this be?

It’s a Seneca before they started putting the name on them.

Twist is 1 in 48. They made the 36s and 45s 1 in 48 and the 32 cals were 1 in 30. It should still shoot fine have shot several that had light rust in them. Keep it clean and lubed to prevent it from worsening.

My Hawken doesn't have Hawken stamped on it anywhere either. I guess it's an older one.

That's what I was thinking.
I was going to start at about 30gr.
I picked up some .350 rb. and I have .013 and .018 ticking.

You can send that barrel to Bobby Hoyt in PA and he will make it as good as new.

Yes, have used him before.

I have a couple of rifles that had a bit heavier than light rust and they shoot fine after removing the rust. Like a previous post mentioned, keep it lubed and clean properly after shooting. My grandfather's Winchester 94 in 32-40 has the roughest bore I have ever seen and it shoots well.

Shoot it. If you think it needs barrel work run some hot laps through it and try again.

Took her for a test drive this morning. Only fired about 10 rounds at 25yds.
30 and 40gr. of 777 fff, .350 rb
Tried .018 ticking but was so tight I was worried the ball would get stuck Part way down. Switched to a .013-.015 and easy loading.
Had two seperate groups going, 3" apart but elevation the same.
Then I looked at the rear sight and realized the leaf was sliding left to right the full distance of adjustment. The screw came loose. that's when I stopped.
After cleaning I ran the bore scope again and it looks a lot better, has light pitting but not bad.
Anyway I think she will be a good shooter and I really enjoyed shooting the little .36

I think a .40 would be nice!

I've got a Cherokee with a Douglas .40 round ball barrel. It is about the most accurate ML rifle I've ever had. .40 is always a good choice but .45 would be great too. Nice looking seneca.
