I went to my local flea market or gunshow.. whichever ya wanna call it, this weekend. I seen a few descent deals, but one caught my eye, I spyed a brand new, in the box, Traditions Trapper Pistol kit. The fella had 135$ on it..I picked it up for considerably less ( not telling how much.. :blah:)
anyhow, I started putting stuff together and noticed it needed quite a bit of finishing work..no biggie. So now a few hours later and some elbow grease, I have the the barrel de-farbed and cooking in the oven, ready to be browned. The inletting is all done and rough fitted, wood is stained nd the pistol is ready to be put back together for the final time..anyone else have the similair experience with the "trapper" pistols?

I bought a new one in the box. It fires great. As it was new, my mentor told me to run some of that stainless steel sponge through it on my cleaning rod to get the machining burrs off and what not. It shoots wonderfully!

You'll love it, at least I do. .22 pillow ticking, .490 balls and I think 30 or 35 gr of 3F does the trick.

pictures man ... pictures !!! :rotf: don't mean a thing without pictures my brother from a different mother ! :idunno: ... :hmm:

You lucky stiff! I am so jealous, I would love one of those but no can get down-under. :shake: .

Hey Dikman,

Understand the no Traditions exported down under problem, but have you looked into whether Ardesa can get one to ya? :idunno:

The are the makers of the Trapper, and manufacture their own pistols (both flint and perc.) under the name "Patriot".

Wow is it just me, or does the Ardesa patriot share a striking resemblance to T/C's old Patriot? Nice find on the pistol. Post pics of it when you are done.

Thanks mate, although they don't list a distributor for Australia (which doesn't surprise me) I've asked them if they will export to here.

I'm not optimistic......

here it is.. barrel looks shortened due to the bad photography...it IS EXTREMELY accurate.I made the initial sight adjustments using a large cardboard box. I had to tap the front sight a little..then the rear...after I got it all in, I was shooting one ragged hole in an old spray can at 25 yrds. I can say I am extremely pleased.
