I just finished an Early American Fowler from TVM (Matt & Toni). It was a long process, and many times I wondered why I didn't just pay the extra money for a finished gun. Now that it's done, I know why. It's that unbelievable sense of accomplishment, and more than a little pride you feel when someone says "nice looking gun", and you reply "thanks, I just finished it last week." If nothing else it will teach you a hell of a lot about patience. Here are some pictures. It was a chance to use my new digital camera (it's funny, I can build a gun, but I can't take a decent photo).

Well this being your first build and all i don't know if you noticed the lock is on the wrong side. Seriously though, very nice job. A gun you can always be Proud of.

That lock is only on the wrong side if you shoot backwards  Thanks for the kind words.

Sparky

Great job, as you know I have one coming from TVM that is also a left handed fowler. After seeing your completed pictures, I am even more anxious. Again, great work!

From one smithy to another: Fine job! I'll be happy to send you the pattern for that butt plate if you want to hammer one out for yourself. Cheers, Bookie

Oh, I'm hooked alright. I'm thinkin' on doing an Early Virginia Rifle next. 42" swamped barrel in .50 cal. with iron furniture.

Sparky is right. He is hooked. And he is a fine blacksmith and carpenter, and will do well building guns. But he has a long way to go with his photgraphy, cuz the final shots do not do this fowler justice. I have seen it in person, and it be a fine piece of work.
