My newly completed build

Here's my newly completed build. This is #4 for me but the first from a blank and really the first that I didn't request help from others on. I'm reasonably happy with it, though I clearly don't have the skills and talent that some on this board do. I'm always blown away by some of the "first rifle" photos that I see here.

I shot 12 shots to walk the balls up the target and into the bull while making some sight adjustments. I had a tight 3-shot group from 25 yards that struck about 1" high and this is my two-shot 50 yard target (I ran out of balls and these were the last two that I had. I'm sure I have more inside but I didn't want to run in and get them and was happy enough with this group anyway).

Here are the particulars. The shooting was completed with .490 balls, .015 pre-lubed pillow ticking patches and 75 grains of FFg. The gun was stocked in cherry, barrel is a B-weight .50 by Colerain and the lock is a large Siler, triggers are Douglas.

Thanks for the compliments guys. There were/are plenty of mistakes on this build, but I can live with some of them, I fixed some of them and I learned from all of them. This was the most enjoyable build that I've completed to date and after a very short range session, I really couldn't be happier.

If'n you can get that gun to shoot in the same hole all the time, you will save on targets. :grin:
It is satisfying when you make a gun, and it shoots like that.

Thanks everyone, you're all too kind. Really, if you could see the mistakes, you might not compliment the build so freely. Here's a bit of an artsy photo that I did today (I can't take credit for the possibles bag or the knife, but I also built the turkey call for what it's worth).

It looks nice and you are smart enough to know your limitations. I shot a rifle that looks very similar and the guys with the more expensive rifles are mostly impressed by the way it shoots. I have the same barrel, lock, and Davis triggers.
I shoot 65grs.3F, .022 patch and .490 ball.
