A long time ago I showed some pictures of my dads neglected Pennsylvania long rifle. Well i got it back into working order. It's still in the white but eventually I'll have the guys at the log cabin brown it for me. I don't plan on hunting with this gun. It's to big for me seeing as I'm only 5'4" 190 pounds and my traditions .50 points a lot better for me.

But anyway here is a vidio of me shooting it. I talked a little bit about what i know about these rifles but I'm sure you all know a lot more. I don't have the best loading procedure but I'm working on it.

What make is your rifle? It looks like it fits you pretty well, and you had some fun.

It doesn't have any identifying markings on it that i know of. It's been in my family possession for like 45 years but i actually don't know where it came from. My dad got a deer at 200 yards with it about six years ago before he lost interest in the sport.

Like I said it's a little big for me but not to bad.

here is a few pictures i took before i restored the gun to shooting order.

It's probably not worth much because it's all iron furniture and the pitting around the lock but it's still shoots.

And one of the gun i actually got that deer with, just for fun.

Is it just me or does the Dad's gun look too short to be a Pennsylvania ? It looks about 6 inches short. (?) :idunno:

I don't think so but I'm not sure, That's just what i was told it was. The barrel is 36" long so it is a little shorter than other ones I've looked at. If it isn't a long rifle than what is it? I don't know enough about these guns to ID them and like I said before this gun doesn't have any identifying markings on it.

i'd agree with shortbow, looks to be fullstock Hawkens style with a Siler lock

Both Fine looking rifles. I like the full stock flinty. Mine has a 36" barrel on it also. seems like just the right length for trapesing through the Northwest Woods with....

Sharpie don't cut yerself short, I'm 5'4" n only 155 lbs n shoot a full sized 50 cal. As well as a petersoli 45 cal thats near 35 yrs old. The heaviest gun I shoot weight wise is a Pedersoli 32cal Pa. Flinter. That bugger shoots like a dream but is rather heavy to tote through the squirrel woods all day long(since the cancer treatments). Ya just have to get out n use em n get used to em until they feel comfortable to ya, don't let yer smaller stature hold ya back, yer still a young buck. --just some thoughts YMHS Birdman
