Yes Pete I have shot a single ball. Two work well too.
However, an individual that lives north east of me complained to his chief constable who got in touch with my firearms department who then got in touch with me.
They assured me I can not do that.
I asked why, they said this and that, I said this and that, they pulled rank on me so I was forced to make a decision.
So in the interests of safety I don't shoot a single ball, I shoot five instead. Oh, and in all the areas I shot 308, 6.5, 243 etcetera etcetera.
Welcome to Britain and British mard areses!
Firearms department. ? I watched a program where a firearms department personnel ask a home owner for his “log” kept with his firearms storage area. I got the impression one needed to log a fire arm out and in when ever it was removed from said storage area. Just my comprehension of the scene or do you guys have to keep records such as that. ?

No no, it's not that bad ....yet!

On my own. Wanted some time out, peace and quiet, no distractions. Even left Jess at home.
I took my trusty .45 with me and dropped five .36" balls down it.

Can't load a single .445" or even two but for some bizarre reason five .36" is fine with the law 🤔.
I missed #1 rabbit after a good stalk. I forgot to draw a fine bead.
The second stalk was a successful 30yd shot.

One of the balls was in the timber behind the rabbit.

Rabbit #3 on near dark was a blessing. I was watching two at 50yds when this one pops out of cover at thirty yards. When it stuck its neck out I took the shot.

A grand afternoon alone, peace and quiet. Blissful.

I think Brits…. rabbit is the European species, they breed so fast with so many young produced they can become an evasive species in short order, they are also larger than our New England species, cotton tails, which tend to be smaller than several rabbit types.
Snowshoes are a northern cold country species and are Hares as it seems are Jack and antelope rabbits.

I've fired shot out of a couple of my 50 cal rifles,it works better than expected but still nowhere near as good as a smoothbore

Well done sir, you definitely have some odd laws in the UK. I want to get back some day to hunt Roe again, just wish I could use a BP
Help me understand how you were able to put multiple shot balls in your rifle. Or am I just misunderstanding and you really put one ball in at the time. Which rifle do you have that allowed multiple balls and his do you make them stay in the barrel? Good job in the rabbits! I don’t hunt them in Colorado due to a disease that’s taking over the population. Bummer

It is a smoothbore. Or smoothrifle.
I drop the powder, add a stack of two card's and lubed thin leather wads. Now ram. Then I rolled 5x .36" balls down and stuck a card on top.

My observation too. Rabbits (cotton tails) or Hares, is there difference , maybe a variation of our western Jack rabbits.
Cotton tails and hares are two defferent rabbits. One thing cotton tails and born like mice little pink things that stay in the nest for a few weeks. Hares ( jackrabbits) are born like chickens in a few hours are running around.

Boy, I bet that load puts a stomping on a rabbit. Thanks for taking us along and congrats on another successful trip.
