Mystery 1858

Brother Steve and I went the Gettysburg show today and I picked this up. There's not marking one on this gun. No name, no serial number, no proofs, no date code, no country of origin, no nothing. The finish is a bright charcoal like on my Uberti Walker. Gentleman I purchased it from knew nothing about it to boot. Any guesses?

Could be a kit from the late 80s.

Would explain the fugly bluing.

Kit gun should still have some kind of markings. Was probably defarbed and then blued.

Either a kit or there are markings under the rammer or grips.

It's a defarbed ASM, pulled the grips and found the "DGG". Playing the light across the frame I could just faintly see the remains two X's polished out.

I built a DGW kit 1858 in 1969 or 1970 and it had (has) absolutely no markings.

Kit gun should still have some kind of markings. Was probably defarbed and then blued.

Back in the late 70's or early 80's I purchased an 1858 brass frame kit from Dixie Gun Works and it did not have any markings on it anywhere.
