Got this today at an auction with some other stuff. Got a some misc. stuff, couple barrels and this pistol for $80.00.

36 Caliber I'll post more pictures when I get it cleaned up. I see no markings or stampings anywhere.

Sight appears to be just a piece of sheet brass held in the dove tail by what looks like plastic putty
 
zimmer, my impression is that you have a pistol of modern manufacturer made by an individual from various parts. the gun appears to be well made I am especially impressed with the metal reinforced grip. The gun just need a little cleaning up and you will have a nice shooting. for 80 dollars you got the gun and parts In my opnion you got a good deal for sure, clean her up burn some powder have fun congrats on your find yours hounddog
 
1842 cavalry pistol repro is my guess...its built on the same lines (barrel, ramrod, trigger, band etc)
 
Almost looks like someone made a home made replica of an 1842 service pistol but in a smaller caliber for target shooting. If the bore is good a little work and you might have a nice shooter there.
