Having just put a ML on layaway as stated in my post on perc. forum I would like to get a small amount of BP for load development purposes. I don't really want to buy 5lbs at a time just yet (until I know what I want to use). So does anyone know of an OTC retail source of Goex anywhere between Fort Wayne, IN and Chicago, ILL?

If you are located anywhere near the Syracuse (Lake Wawasee) area I may be able to help. Our club has a range near Cromwell just off US6. The club name is Stones Trace Regulators. We have been in the BP shooting business since '76 and have a very nice covered firing line and target positions for 25,50, and 100 yards.

Heck yeah, I live in Warsaw and we plan to hunt tri-county! The gun is a .50 Bobcat and I was wanting to try Goex ffg and fffg along with the Pyro P that I have on hand. If I order from one of the online suppliers the min. order plus the DOT fees would bring the cost of my powder over $60 (i.e. more than I paid for the rifle). The wife is already a bit worried about the money I intend to spend. :winking:

Later on I can stock up once the right powder is determined.

I'm in your phone book - Lawrence Pletcher. Give me a call and we could find a time to get over to Stones Trace and develope a load for your rifle. I have Goex ffg, fffg, Swiss ffg, and fffg. somewhere in there is a accurate load for your .50. I'd bet on ffg from one Co. or the other. I've used fffg in .50s but not usually in heavy charges.

Larry Pletcher
PS if you happen to join our club you can buy powder from the club. I don't remember what annual dues are - I'm a lifer.
