Folks:
If you live within a day's drive of Winchester, Va., are at all interested in firearms of the Civil War period and can spare some time between Wednesday and Sunday, you owe it to yourself to visit the North-South Skirmish Association's 111th Nationals at our Fort Shenandoah range. There you will see competitions with practically every shooting device used in the War of the Rebellion, from revolvers through field artillery pieces. If you think these guns can't deliver accurate fire, you'll come away persuaded otherwise.
While only N-SSA team members can compete, you are all welcome to attend, watch, swap lies and spend money on good Civil War original and repro firearms, bullet moulds, leathers and accessories of all sorts in the dozen or so sutleries that will be open for business. And, if you like what you see, it's not a difficult organization to join.
The N-SSA Web Site, where maps to the fort may be found, is at http://www.n-ssa.org and the schedule of events is at http://www.n-ssa.org/NATIONAL/111th/111thPrgm.pdf
Look for the guy you see in the avitar on this post. That's me, and I'll be there, somewhere, eager to say "howdy" to percussion shooters of all stripes. Hope you can make it!
