Last Saturday I played with the NAA Companion cap n ball revolver with a cylinder full of Hodgdon 777 and .240 buck shot topped with grease. I managed to chronograph one shot at 544 feet per second. It easily went thru a pc of 1/2” plywood.

Then i thought hmmmmm, what if i tried some 22 cal 15 gr crossman domed pellets. Filled the cylinder flush with 777 then thumb pressed the pellets as far as I could. Seated with the NAA loading tool and added the grease. They shot great but i didnt chrono them. Batteries died. Easy loading. Fairly accurate for such a tiny pistol. Just a fun Saturday afternoon

NAA makes some dynamite stuff, BP as well as cartridge guns. I've carried the .22 mag unmentionable for over 40 years. Had the belt buckle once years ago, it was troublesome, sold it for a lot more than I paid for it.

Man I dont know what kinda velocity i was getting with the pellets over the 544 fps round balls but they were disintegrating on impact with a porcelain toilet in my burn pile. I thought no way am i missing the target. Then i saw the lead splashes on the porcelain surface. Not even a crack visible. Certainly Not exactly a defensive round 😜
