I'm new to traditional muzzleloading, so my new to me Renegade doesn't have a name yet, but all of my cartridge rifles and shotguns have names. An example is my 270, nicknamed "The Cannon" by my father. I wondered about this for years, because it is just a 270, not a 600 NE, but when I took a doe at dusk at the end of rifle season, I found out. 60 gr. of H4831 makes quite a flash, like a tracer round!

Out of close to 25 or so I currently have only two have names and both are smooth bores. FDC 20ga is The Wind Of Death and is engraved as such on top of barrel. The other is a NW 24ga that’s Cross Eyed Jack.

I have named only a few with sentimental attachment. The maple stock longrifle is named “Sugar” and the new rifle is “Cherry” for obvious reason.

Got a new but rather unusual black powder burner, a .75 handgonne. On the tiller I used a wood burning pen to mark it Drachenfeuer. See it shoot and you'll understand its name which is German for dragon fire.

"Royale, no cheese" was the name for this swivel blunderbuss. A 1 inch bore, with a 1 inch ball is 4oz. Some might remember from pulp fiction what a 1/4 pounder is called since people in Europe don't know what a 1/4 pound is.

Mine are just called by their calibers, the .50, the .36, the .32, or the "Trade Gun" or" Ithaca" for the percussion Hawken. Not very original. Out of 80 rifles and guns I've owned over the years only one unmentionable .22 was named by my BIL, "The Nevermiss". My son owns it now.

Any of you guys name your flintlock like they did in the past ? If so what? If not why not?

In the middle of building my first and even using a kit it seems to be ", coming alive"
Do you name you motor vehicles??

Do you name you motor vehicles??
I do, but only when it gives me trouble and those names are not suitable for the forum nor for young ears. 😄

I'd do the same with my flintlock should I own one but for the moment, Gotta marry the miss this summer THEN buy a flintlock as a wedding gift from me to me.
