It is a reproduction--never bothered to look for a maker name. It is a ~3" bore. This gun is fired a few times a day during special tourist events with blank loads, otherwise sits idle. The current fort was rebuilt in the 1970s using old methods and the detailed plans drawn of the original in 1733 when it was strengthened due to the Natchez War. It is a well-done fort run by the state parks as a state historic site. It has a small paid staff which does French Marine impressions, but we are volunteers. Three times a year (Spring, fall and winter) larger numbers of volunteer reenactors assemble there for long weekends and the fort "comes alive" again. They recently added a vistors center (out of sight of the fort) with a small museum and a 14 min history film. It is worth a trip--plus the ladies will love the town of Natchitoches [pronounced nacatish], the oldest European settlement (1714) in LA and the site of a large Caddo village--and the more recent site of the movie Steel Magnolias. Pretty little town, alot of history.
