Just got a new blade from TOTW, classic Russell green river. I suspended it in navel jelly for 30 min., after 30 min. I pulled it out and cleaned it off. I was very pleased with the color, however, i noticed when cutting the gray finish wears off easily. Is this common or did i do something wrong?

That would be common thing for what you did. The edge has a bit different temper than the body of the blade just from them sharpening :idunno:

cut a few taters with that new knife. that will change the color to a nice gray. that is how I do mine.

You can get a very deep gray with diluted PC board etchant.

Dilute 2-1 with distilled water, and swab it on. Let it stand for 20 minutes
