Hey muzzleloading forum

have just bought this fine gun, but I do not know what brand this gun is and if it is a great gun.

the markings is:
NAVY ARMS CO. RIDGEFIELD N.J. - ITALY (on top)
Cal .44 (on barrel side)
Seriel number is 12XXX (bottom)

I did notice that it is a bit old by lookin up the date XXVI on the side, I think it is from 1970, but I might be wrong.

Anybody who got any info would be appriciated :) Thank you

I think you will find a "G.U." mark on the bottom flat of the barrel, under the loading lever. If so, it's a Uberti. I have number 1650, marked XVII.
Yours is in beautiful condition, mine is pretty rough.

Navy Arms pistols were only marked with a G.U. maker mark from 1959 to 1963. They were marked with the Uberti maker mark after that. His pistol is dated 1970.

Hello,

I wound up here today doing a google search to understand where my Colt Navy was made.
In 1970 or 1971, I bought a 1851 Colt Navy .36 caliber percussion pistol with an engraved cylinder from Dixie Gun Works through the mail.

On the top of the barrel it is stamped:
NAVY ARMS CO. RIDGEFIELD N.J. – ITALY
The cylinder is stamped PATENT N
It looks like the serial number is 8013
The stamp mark looks like a "U" I expect for Umberti.

I was 14 when I got it and used to stand in front of a mirror pretending I was a western bad ass 😁 Hey, who didn't!!
I fired it a few times back in the 70s and 80s and did just a little damage, but I still love the gun.

Looks like you did a good job of caring for it all these years. The Italian company that made it is Uberti, no "M" in it.
Take it out and shoot it again, the world still needs Western bad *****!

Well, not forever ,
but for a long time here on this earth while we are here anyhow.

Thanks for sharing, those ol revolvers bring back memories, dusty ol fun shops I dream about from long ago
