I'd say that falls into the "sparsely populated" category!!
But I bet it must be nice...thought several times in years past what it might be like to move out west...but it's too late now to consider such things

Here in Manitoba, we are alowed 1 tag for archery, 1 for muzzleloader, 1 for general season and 1 extra doe tag to be taken in any season. I shoot mainly does, because they tast better, and I like to see the big bucks doing the breading. If you are a cattle rancher, you don't kill off your best bull every year. That is how I look at it, but we have many that would never shoot a doe.

I understand that thinking but I doubt that's really a problem in the wild...I believe there are many, many wise old bucks thay never show themselves in the li8ght of day...and now, we've seen during the last few years of "trail cameras" use, guys are posting photos of huge bucks during the middle of the night...AFTER...the season has closed.

There's not an out-of-state version of what I get (NC Sportsman's License).

But there are a variety of out-of-state licenses to choose from...they differ by duration, by type of game hunted, etc, so I really can't give you a single answer.

Poke around on the website and look for the regulations...should be able to find what you need

Thanks, I'll check it out. I'd probably never make it that far east for a hunt but if I don't get drawn here soon...

I mainly hunt does, and rarely wait for a buck to show. I've got horns on the wall, and two boys to feed. I do think we shoot our deer too young here(and I'm guilty as the rest), and don't let them grow up. I agree with the gene pool thing, about highgrading all the bucks out, but the problem -here- is not about that, it's about anything with antlers gets shot at 1 1/2 years old, and no one ever gets to know what he would have been. To compare things, if you judged all men by only getting to see teen agers, you couldn't make accurate assesments. A 1.5yr old buck from any state, won't compare to a 4.5yr old buck from any state, generally. Our problem is we (seem to) need to let the bucks grow up, and take a few more does, to get things back to the way nature intened.

But I really don't care about antlers, unless I'm doing powder measures or knife handles. I just love to hunt, bow, ml, rifle, shotgun, heck, if they had a slinky season...... :)
